Charnocks first home game of the season at the NOU (new) pitch is a cup game.
Rossendale start the brighter and are keeping the greens on their toes with some excellent football and are quick to break down the wings, and itís our cat (COLLINS) who is called into action first by producing a world class save from Rossendaleís impressive front line. Charnock struggling to make an impression on the game as the away side go close with a glancing header.
The greens start to begin asking some questions of Rossendale as TAYLOR is pulling the strings in midfield and RAMSHAW bursts into the box but is denied a goal by a great save by the keeper. Charnock up their game and begin to play some sexy football. TAYLOR again is instrumental in midfield and showing a winning attitude.
ELSTON releases ENTWISTLE with a great pass but the forward canít quite get his shot away.
Rossendale respond with more pressure and SCHOFIELD and WHITTLE have to be on their twinkle toes as the away side look threatening. Just before the break and COLLINS makes another great save from a free kick.
H.T. and Charnock steadily grow into the game and itís made an entertaining first half. Sub CHOPPER for SHEEHAN.
The Second half gets underway and both teams are having a go and its end to end stuff.
Its Rossendale who break the deadlock with a quality through ball, SCHOFIELD tries to intervene but the striker gets the final touch and guides it past COLLINS 1.0,(50mins).sub RAMMERS for JWHITTLE,.
ENTWISTLE tries his luck from a free kick outside the area but his effort goes wide, Charnock keep plugging away but seem to struggle finding that final pass.
The bleary eyed home support are unusually quiet today after last nightís 80s shenaniganís where I think too much skol and thunderbirds was consumed, but no Ramboís or tutus on show thankfully this afternoon as the home side keep the ball moving but are trying their best against an organised Rossendale.
Charnock find themselves 2 down on 60 mins when slack defending at the back lets the away side increase their lead from close range.
In the closing minutes SHEEHAN goes close with a great shot but the keeper tips it on to the bar.F.T 0.2.
Not to be today at the Nou Pitch in front of a capacity crowd, but again just not finding that quality pass for the front men.
Todayís m.o.m and bottle of bubbles goes to Charnocks own midfield maestro TAYLOR, well done.
